Not a bad read but so short I didn't really get a chance to know the characters considering the giant leap of faith required
I always enjoy Barbara Bretton's books, and this one is no exception.
She creates wonderful characters and settings that make you want to
live there and meet these people in person.
Nowadays, many have second marriages, but how many marry the same person twice? "I do I do Again" follows Robert and Sunny, high school sweethearts who eloped on prom night then got divorced later. Fast forward 15 years, they saw each other again and fell hopelessly in love with each other again.
But, they are older now, with two kids to think of if they get married again and of course, their families who want to "do it right" this time with a big church wedding.
Taking the readers on both sides of the coin, (three if we count the original elopement), "I do I do Again" gives a close look on planning a traditional wedding with families and friends involved. And, if you went through one yourself, you can actually feel the frustration and exhaustion, even the yelling.
Then of course, this is a modern family, wherein children from a former marriage are involved. New bonds had to be created while not forgetting old ones.
Sweet and funny at times, "I do I do Again" blends the modern family with the traditional as the bond of love ties them all together.
I read for enjoyment. Picked this for the author. She is fun and easy to read. Has a good story line and keeps thmplot moving along. Would recommend if you like a quick read.
Barbara Bretton is one of my *All Time Favorite Authors", every one of her stories are wonderful. I Do, I Do...Again is a wonderful story about Sunny and Robert...reuniting later in their lives and knowing when they see each other that their love for each other never stopped. Romantic and wonderful story...well written!
I'm a sucker for "second chances", but this is the most improbable story I have read in a while. Really, no slight hesitation after an hour of meeting for the first time in 15 years? Just hey we're getting married? I tried to give this a chance, but I can't imagine any one wanting this to happen in the most idealistic way. There is a reason it didn't work the first time, no true exploration of this at all. I'm glad this only cost buck...
